The role
To support the continued growth and development of our public affairs team, we are looking for a driven and talented policy adviser to join us. The successful candidate will have a passion for politics, and experience working in a policy focussed role. You will be someone who is committed to delivering excellence and thrives in a fast-paced environment. The adviser will be a pivotal player in a team that provides cutting edge regulatory and political analysis and engagement advice to some of the most exciting brands in the industry, and help shape the future of this fast-growth part of the business.
You will have around at least 2-3 years experience as a policy maker, in-house or consultancy, working in a trade association, or a government political role.
Responsibilities will include the following:
- Acts as day to day lead on accounts, fostering positive client relationships and servicing the account to time – taking accountability for ensuring actions are recorded allocated and actioned effectively
- Leading client meetings confidently and positively
- Takes a leadership role with Executives and Interns, supporting their development and managing and reviewing their work on account teams
- Takes responsibility for delivery of status reports and other client reporting
- Able to undertake independent research tasks and complete them to a high quality
- Assisting with business development and takes on a role in pitches
- Takes ownership of their personal development, seeking out and pursuing appropriate opportunities for relevant training
- Takes time to invest in the culture of the business and celebrate the successes of the team
The ideal candidate profile:
- Strong political insight and intuition with a good understanding of the UK political and regulatory landscape
- Possesses an analytical mind with first class verbal and written communications skills. Expected to absorb and assess technical policy documents and other source materials, creating crisp summary copy and recommendations
- Dedicated to producing high quality work and going the extra mile in a fast paced environment
- Has excellent interpersonal skills to encourage respectful debate and is not afraid to take risks
- Is not afraid to break new ground and find new ways to solve old problems
- Enjoy working with people with a diverse range of backgrounds and opinions.
