The role
Founded in 2016, Hanbury continues to focus on delivering client excellence and growing our business. We are looking to bring on board a driven Associate Director to help service existing public affairs accounts, with opportunities to help support our ongoing growth.
The successful candidate will have a passion for politics, a shrewd understanding of EU politics and regulation, knowledge of digital and telecoms policy, and will be committed to delivering excellence in a fast-paced consulting environment.
You will be a key member of a team that provides cutting-edge regulatory & political analysis and engagement advice to some of the most exciting global companies. You will have experience working for the EU institutions, a think tank, in-house, in a relevant trade association, or in consultancy.
Responsibilities
Leadership and development
Review and approve work by junior colleagues, providing coaching and effective feedback
Manage junior colleagues on accounts, delegating, motivating, supervising, and developing them
Client Management
Manage overall client relationships across a portfolio of accounts, demonstrating strong lateral thinking and problem-solving skills
Provide strategic regulatory and political analysis and engagement advice, and manage the delivery of daily products and services to clients
Focus consistently on adding value to clients and recognise opportunities to extend relationships.
Business Development
Play a significant role in business development, including leading well-structured, creative new business proposals
Cross-sell and upsell to existing clients and drive new commercial opportunities
Present and influence with confidence in pitches and client meetings
Build relationships with potential new business leads and grow your network
Leadership & Development
Review and approve work by junior colleagues, providing coaching and effective feedback
Manage junior colleagues on accounts, delegating, motivating, supervising, and developing them
Support the development of a positive Hanbury culture and act as an advocate and ambassador for Hanbury internally and externally
The ideal candidate profile:
Has a shrewd understanding of EU politics and the regulatory process
Has three to six years’ experience working for the EU institutions, a think tank, in-house, at a relevant trade association, or in consultancy
Has knowledge of consumer policy, digital platforms, and / or telecoms regulation. Is also comfortable developing expertise in new policy areas as the political agenda evolves
Can confidently advise clients on the details of public policy and plan engagement across the EU institutions
Has a developing Brussels network
Has some experience as a people manager and leader
Has strong presentation and influencing skills
Has excellent interpersonal skills to encourage respectful debate and is not afraid to take risks.
Has first class verbal and written communications skills in English and at least one other European language
Is dedicated to producing high-quality work and going the extra mile in a fast-paced environment
Wants to be part of a dynamic team, helps drive a positive working environment, and enjoys working with people from diverse backgrounds and with differing views
Has the right to work in Belgium
Benefits
26 days’ paid leave plus bank holidays and time off over Christmas.
Normal working hours are 9am–6pm.
Hybrid working policy, with the opportunity to work from abroad for up to four weeks per year.
