The role
In our ninth year, Hanbury continues to focus on delivering client excellence and growing the business. We are looking to bring on board a driven Director to help grow our expanding Brussels client roster and service existing public affairs accounts.
This Director will have a good network among the Brussels institutions, to provide clients with sound engagement advice. Knowledge of digital technology policy, particularly telecoms, is an advantage, but you’ll have the ability and the expectation put on you to grow into new focus areas in line with the ever evolving political agenda. This is a senior role in our team (you’re likely to have seven years plus experience), just one level below Partner. You will be a member of the Brussels leadership team, taking decisions on the day-to-day running of our company. As such, you have an entrepreneurial mindset and likely have some experience in getting involved in business development to grow our workbook.
Responsibilities will include the following:
Providing strategic advice to clients to progress their regulatory and policy agendas in Brussels.
Actively networking and leveraging relationships with the European Commission, Parliament and Council. Engaging with (prospective) clients, helping to raise the profile of Hanbury in Brussels and beyond.
Leading a team (c. 10) mid-level and junior colleagues, including coaching and training, reviewing, delegation, motivation, feedback and development.
Drafting new business proposals and pitches.
Being a consistent champion of excellence, leading by example within your team and across the whole firm.
Taking time to invest in the culture of our business and celebrate team successes.
About you
Comfortable and experienced in the Brussels political landscape. Experience in digital technology regulation is considered an advantage but you’ll have the opportunity to grow into new focus areas in line with the ever evolving political agenda.
An excellent communicator with good drafting skills in English and one other European language.
Entrepreneurial mindset - interested in leading getting involved in business development, motivated by the opportunity to help shape and grow our Brussels offer.
Demonstrable experience leading teams.
Dedicated to producing high quality work and going the extra mile for colleagues and clients.
Be willing to do occasional business travel to London and other European capitals.
Personable, respectful, and a team player capable of working with people with a diverse range of backgrounds and opinions.
Excited to be part of a dynamic, young, hard-working team, advising clients from a range of industries.
Benefits
26 days’ paid leave plus bank holidays and time off over Christmas.
Normal working hours are 9am - 6pm.
Operate a hybrid working policy - up to 4 weeks per year.
