UK Financial Services Public Affairs Traineeship

To start: end of January 2025 (flexible)
Salary: €1300 gross per month, plus 12 days vacation, and travel and lunch benefits
What is on offer
- A 6-month long paid traineeship with our Public Affairs team, working on UK financial services policy.
- You will have the opportunity to work directly on client projects and learn from the most senior and experienced people in the business.

- While your key focus is on the UK, you will also assist with various EU related tasks.
The role
- You will research policy and political developments in UK financial services, dealing with what happens in Whitehall and Westminster and assessing the impact of legislation and regulation on some of the largest companies in the world.
- You will support our daily monitoring, as well as our policy analysis.
- You will be researching and analysing policy developments from Westminster, Whitehall and the UK regulators relevant for our financial services clients. This will include topics such as banking, capital markets, crypto, artificial intelligence and sustainable finance.
- You will contribute to the drafting of briefings, stakeholder maps, client updates and presentations.
- You will be supporting our financial services client teams in servicing clients.
- You will take part in team brainstorms to come up with new pitch ideas for clients.
- You will also support our team’s EU work, following some of the most defining events in European policymaking and politics.
You will
- Have a passion for UK politics and policy and/or financial services.
- Have a desire to learn new things.
- Have the ability to work well within teams.
- Speak and write in fluent English (as our main language of doing business).
- Be an excellent drafter, assessing information from various sources under time pressure.
- Be excited by the opportunity to work on new projects.
- Have a strong work ethic.
Who is eligible
- You will have a demonstrable interest in UK regulation and policy.
- You will have the relevant permissions to live and work in Belgium.

If successful, the traineeship will start around the end of January 2025 (with some flexibility) and last for a period of six months. The internship will take place in our Brussels office. Hanbury implements a flexible remote work policy.
